Interpreting

Are you planning a multilingual event?

We provide qualified interpreters around the world and, if you wish, we provide the technology too. We would be pleased to draw up a customised quote for you.
Please consult our checklist (PDF) for a whole range of tips on planning your event using interpreters.

What is interpreting?

Interpreting involves spoken words, and conveying their message from one language into one or more other languages. One of the following three types of interpreting is selected depending on the particular circumstances:

Simultaneous interpreting

more

Interpreters speak almost contemporaneously with the speakers – which saves a great deal of time! This method is well suited to large congresses and conferences, and requires sound-proof interpreting booths as well as the corresponding audio technology. Simultaneous interpreting is a high-performance sport: This is why our language professionals work in teams of two, as a general rule, to take over from each other at regular intervals. This ensures that their concentration remains consistently high and they are able to capture the nuances of the language spoken.

Consecutive interpreting

more

For small gatherings, it is also possible to use consecutive interpreting, with the interpreter speaking once the source-language speaker has finished speaking. No booth is required for this method, however, you will have to allow for more time. This approach is particularly well suited to arbitration cases and small discussion groups, for example.

Liaison interpreting

more

This is well suited to smaller-scale negotiations or discussions (max. 2-3 people). No technical equipment is required for this type of interpreting. The interpreter, having an excellent command of both working languages, mediates between the two parties.

Remote interpreting

more

Is the current pandemic situation preventing you from holding in-person events? Would you like to save participants from having to undertake long journeys to attend short meetings?

Remote interpreting can be the answer here. Our language professionals will interpret your virtual event from a hub or via a special internet platform. We can provide precisely the right solution to meet your requirements.

As a Swiss organisation, we always offer interpreting from Swiss German too, as a free additional service, whenever this is required.

What languages do we offer?

Our conference interpreters work with the following languages:

show all languages

  • German
  • French
  • Italian
  • English
  • Spanish

Thanks to our extensive network, we are able to offer additional languages upon request.

What specialist areas do we cover?

Our interpreting professionals are able to quickly and thoroughly familiarise themselves with a broad range of specialist areas and the materials you provide. Normally, we provide you with language professionals who already have some experience in the relevant specialist area.

Certified professionals exclusively

Guided by the general working conditions set out by the International Association of Conference Interpreters AIIC, we work exclusively with certified professionals. Our interpreters are thoroughly trained in all interpreting techniques. Most are graduates of the Zurich School for Translation and Interpretation (DOZ) – now the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) Institute of Translation and Interpreting – the University of Geneva, or other renowned schools for interpreting and translation abroad.

Have one provider take care of your interpreters, technology and the translation of your conference materials.

Should you so wish, we will be happy to organise not only your professional interpreters, but also the required technical equipment (e.g. interpreting booths). We collaborate with recognised technology partners to make this possible. In addition, our professional translators can translate any documents or materials you need for your conference.
